Research Area/Interests
Prof. Cosandey’s research activities are centered on atomistic studies of defects in solids and determination of structure-property relationship in materials. He is also involved in the applications of high-resolution electron microscopy and diffraction techniques (TEM and SEM) for microstructural studies, phase identification and defect structure analysis in materials. Specific research areas include, metallization of oxides and epitaxial growth studies by high resolution SEM and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). Synthesis of thin film oxide semiconductors (TiO2 and SnO2) by RF reactive sputtering and plasma deposition with determination of their gas sensing properties. Recently, he has been involved in the synthesis and TEM characterization of nanostructured materials for energy storage applications with in particular LiFePO4 and LiCoO2 oxides, and FeFx/C nanocomposites used as positive electrodes for Li-ion batteries.
