Dr. Yongmei Jin, a 2004 graduate of the department, is joining the Aerospace Engineering Department at Texas A&M
She accepted a position in mechanics and computational modeling of nanostructured materials. While at Rutgers, she received the Graduate Student Research Award (one of 4) in 2003 from the Graduate School. In 2000, she was a Silver Medal Award Winner at the Materials Research Society Meeting. Her Thesis Advisor was Dr. A. Khachaturyan.

Milca Aponte-Roman, a graduate student with Professor Adrian Mann received an Honorable Mention from the NSF for her application for a Graduate Research Fellowship.

Jingsi Yang, a graduate student working with Professor Jun John Xu, has won a MRS Graduate Student Award (Silver Medal) at the MRS Fall 2004 Meeting, for his paper with Professor Xu on “Novel Nonaqueous Sol-Gel Synthesis of LiMPO4 (M = Fe, Mn, Co, Ni) for Lithium-Ion Batteries”.
Among 85 symposia and 4,200 papers presented at the meeting, only 28 student authors won MRS Graduate Student Awards. The paper by Jingsi and Professor Xu was the only one from the symposium on Solid State Ionics that was selected for an award.

Ana Sever, a first year graduate student with Professor Richard Riman, has just won a NASA graduate fellowship!
This fellowship application, among others that she submitted, was written while she was completing her final semester at Clemson University.

Bradley Bowden, a graduate student with Professor James Harrington, has won a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship from the Department of Defense.
He received one of 170 fellowships from over 3200 applicants. The tentative title of his work is "Chalcogenide Glass Photonic Bandgap Fiber for the Transmission of Infrared Radiation."
