Malcolm G. McLaren (MGM) Distinguished Lecture Symposium was held on Thursday, March 30th. Dr. Benjamin Fasano was honored as the Distinguished Lecturer and the featured highlight of the 2023 McLaren Lecture Symposium. More than 100 faculty, students, alumni, and friends attended. The MSE Senior Poster Competition was an excellent opportunity to review departmental research.

Daniel Kopp, who earned BS, MS, and Ph.D. degrees from the School of Engineering’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) has been selected as a Breakthrough Energy Innovator Fellow, which is part of the Breakthrough Energy (BE) network founded by Bill Gates in 2015  to accelerate the clean energy transition and help the world reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

It was an incredible honor to attend the closing of the International Year of Glass at the United Nations on December 14, 2022.  This entire year has been a chance to demonstrate how glass enables people to live more sustainably in the world.  Throughout the year, new connections were forged between people in the glass industry, arts, and academic worlds that will carry glass forward into the future! A big thanks to O-I (Scott Cooper) for providing a sponsorship to display Natalie Tyler's sculpture "Wildfire" in front of the UN.
