MSE Composite Polymer Blend Technology Wins Prestigious Research Award

The All Thermoplastic Composite, I-Beam Design, High-Capacity Bridge System has been selected by an independent judging panel and editors of R&D Magazine as a recipient of a 2011 R&D 100 Award. This highly prestigious national award recognizes the 100 most technologically significant products introduced the past year.  Rutgers MSE polymer scientists and engineers, led by Professor Thomas Nosker and working in the MSE-based Advanced Polymer Center, developed the polymer composite blend used in the design.  This high stiffness and durable materials is manufactured by Axion International under Rutgers license and used by the US Army for tank and locomotive capable bridges nationwide.
