Congratulations to Jamie Wooding (Class of 2017) and Jacob Kupferberg (’17)!!
They are recipients of the National Science Foundation’s 2017 Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). Eight students from Rutgers University, four of those from the School of Engineering, received this award.
Selection is based on demonstrated potential to contribute to STEM related research in the US. Out of 13,000 applicants who applied for 2017, 2000 (15%) were awarded Fellowships. These Fellowships provide 3 years ($34,000/year) of funding within a 5 year period, as well as a $12,000 annual education allowance for three years.
Jamie will attend Georgia Institute of Technology in fall 2016 to study surface functionalization and polymer composites.
Jacob will head to Chicago to study Materials Science at Northwestern University. He is interested in 2-D materials, Energy research, and Biomimetics.
