Graduate Applicant Criteria
For research degrees (master of science or doctoral degrees) we are looking for students who have a passion for original, independent research.
For the taught master’s degree we are looking for the students looking to advance their knowledge and understanding of materials science and engineering. The students may be local, U.S. based or international. Options for part-time study for students in industry or at Government labs is also possible.
Criteria
All applicants should have a bachelor of science degree from an accredited college with at least a 3.0 undergraduate GPA (preferably >3.2). Successful applicants will have high scores on the GRE test (especially the quantitative score), and two or more letters of recommendation are required.
The personal statement is extremely important in the selection of applicants, because it is a chance for the applicant to describe his or her goals. For research degrees it enables us to see if there is a good match in his or her interest with available funded projects.
