Accelerated Bachelor of Science/Master of Science Degree (BS/MS)
The combined BS/MS program offers Rutgers undergraduate students an accelerated pathway into our graduate programs, allowing them to complete a master's degree in a shorter time frame.

Rutgers undergraduates with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who have completed (or are in the process of completing) their sixth semester are eligible to apply for the MSE BS/MS program. Applicants must have completed 96 credits by the end of their sixth semester.
In addition to the opportunity to complete your graduate studies in a shorter time frame and at a reduced cost, the BS/MS program offers the following benefits:
- The GRE requirement is waived for BS/MS students. However, taking the GRE is recommended if you plan to apply for national fellowships or graduate programs at other universities.
- No need to submit full application materials.
- No application fee is required.
- Up to 6 graduate credits taken as an undergraduate can count toward both the BS and MS degrees. Additional graduate credits taken as an undergraduate will count only toward the graduate degree.
- Students will be eligible to receive a $1000 scholarship.

Please make sure to select the “Materials Science and Engineering - 5 Year (MS) New Brunswick” option. - A brief personal statement is required that describes why you are interested in the MSE MS/BS program.
- Complete 96 credits of coursework by the end of the sixth undergraduate semester.
